February 19, 2014

Quality Trust for Individuals with Disabilities, the Council on Quality and Leadership and the Burton Blatt Institute sponsored a symposium on Best Practices in Supported Decision-Making in October 2013. A report from their work at the symposium is now available for download.

I’m pleased to share the report produced from our work at the Supported Decision Making (SDM) Symposium last fall.  We extend our deepest thanks to everyone who was part of this exciting effort to advance the use of Supported Decision Making as an alternative to guardianship for more people. This was a fabulous collaborative effort made possible only by the generous participation and contributions of so many people.  We worked hard to capture all of the important ideas and recommendations shared during this symposium.

As noted in the conclusion, this report is just the beginning of a long-term effort to promote the use of SDM.  Quality Trust is committed to continuing our work on these issues with you and others throughout the country and abroad.  We hope you have had a chance to visit The Jenny Hatch Justice Project web site (jennyhatchjusticeproject.org ) and will continue to share information and resources on this important topic.
