It Takes a Network: Keynote Session

Date: Thursday, April 28, 2016
Jonathan Martinis, Senior Director for Law and Policy, The Burton Blatt Institute at Syracuse University presented the Keynote Session: It Takes a Network at the Third Florida Guardian ad Litem Program Disabilities Training Conference. For children with disabilities, the path to a productive and independent adulthood is fraught with peril: services and supports are too-often inconsistent or uncoordinated, resulting in too many children falling through too many cracks, with can lead to tragic results. This address will call for a “coordinated culture of support,” exhorting guardians ad litem to be “for the child”and the adult that child will become by helping set up, implement, and coordinate services between schools, vocational rehabilitation, Medicaid, and others, to ensure that children have the best chance to realize their best possible life outcomes.
